Astronaut Suni Williams Visits The Moonwalkers in Boston.

NASA astronaut Suni Williams attended a special educational event on Saturday, August 30th, at The Moonwalkers: A Journey With Tom Hanks. Produced by Paquin Entertainment Group, the event at Saunders Castle was paired with an engaging conversation with Talia Sepersky, from the Charles Hayden Planetarium at the Museum of Science.
The event was designed specifically for youth audiences in partnership with the Museum of Science’s Center for Space Sciences. The event offered students—and educators—a unique opportunity to deepen understanding of space exploration, STEM careers, and our lunar legacy through both film and firsthand insight from an astronaut.
“Because we explore and we want to understand processes in microgravity, we want to understand how we can get this generation back to the moon, potentially to live and build a station there to live sustainably so we can figure out the next place to go,” Suni said when speaking to the crowd.
On June 5th, 2024, two astronauts, including Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, left on an 8-day mission to test the spacecraft called Starliner. During their trip, they encountered issues, including thruster problems and helium leaks, which extended their journey by 9
months, during which they stayed at the International Space Station and completed a spacewalk.
When asked about the unexpected stay, she said, “You know, it’s a little vacation, it’s a little break from the hustle and bustle of life here. And it also, where you are, is just incredible,”
Suni is one of the most accomplished astronauts with the fourth most logged hours of space walking time.
“I hope there are a lot of kids that will follow in my footsteps,” Suni concluded.
Narrated, produced, and co-written by Tom Hanks, The Moonwalkers is a groundbreaking immersive experience fusing rare NASA archival footage, Artemis-era interviews, and stunning visuals powered by cutting-edge projection and audio technology. Boston is the first U.S. stop of this globally celebrated show.
